DESCRIPTION
COME LEARN:
What is an eating disorder and what makes people prone to them? How to tell the difference between dieting/disordered eating/preoccupation with body image vs. more serious issues. How to address concerns about eating disorders with your loved one. How to more effectively communicate about the disordered behavior. What is the difference between support and enabling? What to say and do/what not to say and do when supporting someone with an eating disorder. How to set appropriate boundaries. How do I stay sane and healthy when a loved one is struggling with an eating disorder? How/when to get help...next steps. How to find additional resources in the community.

WHAT IS FED?
FED (Friends and Family of those with Eating Disorders) is a support group designed to provide education, resources, and emotional support to those in relationships with people diagnosed with or exhibiting signs of anorexia, bulimia, and/or binge eating. The group is appropriate for loved ones and support people of those at any stage of an eating disorder... even if there are only early warning signs. Two seasoned clinicians and eating disorder program directors with over 20 years of experience in this specialty facilitate this FREE community support group.

MINDFUL SELF-COMPASSION

PRESENTER
Hannah Hawkins-Esther, LCSW and Amy Stern, LCSW

DESCRIPTION
Mindful Self-Compassion provides a powerful tool for emotional resilience. This empirically supported program teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding as opposed to judgement and self-criticism.

This 8-week course includes: short talks, experiential exercises, meditation, group discussion, and home practices. MSC is an opportunity to explore how we typically respond when difficulties arise in our lives and to learn tools for becoming a warm and supportive companion to ourselves. MSC participants are asked to practice mindfulness and self-compassion at home for up to 30 minutes per day during the course.

All are welcome: This program is designed for members of the general public. Meditation experience is not necessary to participate in MSC.

NOURISH - A MONTHLY THERAPEUTIC MEAL SUPPORT GROUP FOCUSING ON MINDFUL, SELF-COMPASSIONATE & INTUITIVE EATING

DESCRIPTION
What is food to you?... comforting? threatening? frustrating? boring?

Discover mindful eating – the practice of being present with your food while processing the emotional response in the presence of a supportive community. Whether in recovery from an eating disorder, working through food traumas, or improving your physical well-being, this group can help to guide your food choices and challenge automatic judgments on foods. Hannah Sabella, a Registered Dietitian, will provide education and support on choosing foods for mood stabilization and improvement, physical well-being, and dietary exposure work using mindful and intentional eating practices, in addition to therapeutic processing led by Hannah Hawkins-Esther, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In this way, we can explore how our physical and emotional selves are nourished by food.

This monthly meal group is centered on young adult recovery and wellness, and will focus on therapeutic techniques to alleviate anxiety, depression, and shame surrounding food and eating. Group members must be willing to participate in a meal, with guidance from an RD and Psychotherapist on meal appropriateness.

Nourish dinner is held from 6-7:30 pm on the second Monday of each month in the Conference Room at Atlanta Center for Wellness

COST/FEE
$90 for this 90 minute group includes therapeutic support and dietary guidance through Mindful Eating. Each participant must bring a well balanced meal to the group.

ONGOING EXPERIENTIAL AND PSYCHODRAMA GROUP

DESCRIPTION
Psychodrama and Experiential Processes are specifically designed to get you out of your head and into your body, allowing you to explore the subconscious roots of the issues and early childhood decisions that hold you back in life. Whether you participate in your or other's psychodramas, or even just observe the work of others, you will gain insight, clarity and the tools to help you move through your blocks to a happier, more fulfilling life.

This popular ongoing therapy group is filled with two hours of experiential group work, psychodramas and relevant teachings on topics such as codependency, communication skills, empowerment, manifestation techniques , and emotional management. It is a very safe and supportive environment for you to find the acceptance and support you need to be able to work through trauma and life issues in a fun, interesting way.

A six-month commitment is required. Group is currently forming and is scheduled to begin January 9, 2018.

SELF-HYPNOSIS WORKSHOP

A very popular program designed to teach anyone how to enter, deepen and utilize the trance state to make changes in their life. This one-day workshop is chocked full of techniques to help with relaxation, behavior change, pain management and stress reduction by learning how to identify cues, create effective suggestions, and work through emotional blocks that prevent us from moving forward. CEUs will be available.

YOGA & MEDITATION

PRESENTER

DESCRIPTION
Yoga is more than simply exercise. It is an integrative practice that not only builds physical strength and balance but also emotional, mental, and spiritual strength and balance. This class will offer varied approaches. In some, we will bring focused attention to breath and body as we move through postures and end with a short sitting meditation. Other times yin yoga, (stretching postures which are held for a longer time) will be offered as a moving meditation. Consider this an opportunity to learn or practice, find ease and bring a pleasant end to the day.This class is designed for all levels and is both trauma and recovery informed. All are welcome.
