What is food to you?... comforting? threatening? frustrating? boring?

Discover mindful eating – the practice of being present with your food while processing the emotional response in the presence of a supportive community. Whether in recovery from an eating disorder, working through food traumas, or improving your physical well-being, this group can help to guide your food choices and challenge automatic judgments on foods. Hannah Sabella, a Registered Dietitian, will provide education and support on choosing foods for mood stabilization and improvement, physical well-being, and dietary exposure work using mindful and intentional eating practices, in addition to therapeutic processing led by Hannah Hawkins-Esther, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In this way, we can explore how our physical and emotional selves are nourished by food.

This monthly meal group is centered on young adult recovery and wellness, and will focus on therapeutic techniques to alleviate anxiety, depression, and shame surrounding food and eating. We will then invite each participant to explore the movement themes that organically develop from the shared energy of our group rhythmic activity. These themes will inform meaning making from the movement experience, inviting each participant to listen to the body in a new or different way, and create opportunities for personal insight and growth.
