COME LEARN:
What is an eating disorder and what makes people prone to them? How to tell the difference between dieting/disordered eating/preoccupation with body image vs. more serious issues. How to address concerns about eating disorders with your loved one. How to more effectively communicate about the disordered behavior. What is the difference between support and enabling? What to say and do/what not to say and do when supporting someone with an eating disorder. How to set appropriate boundaries. How do I stay sane and healthy when a loved one is struggling with an eating disorder? How/when to get help...next steps. How to find additional resources in the community.

WHAT IS FED?
FED (Friends and Family of those with Eating Disorders) is a support group designed to provide education, resources, and emotional support to those in relationships with people diagnosed with or exhibiting signs of anorexia, bulimia, and/or binge eating. The group is appropriate for loved ones and support people of those at any stage of an eating disorder... even if there are only early warning signs. Two seasoned clinicians and eating disorder program directors with over 20 years of experience in this specialty facilitate this FREE community support group.

FREEING YOURSELF FROM ANXIETY

DESCRIPTION
The Freedom From Anxiety Group will help people who are engaged in their life and have noticed perceptions of fear and anxiety holding them back in ways significant to them. The group will provide structure, support, psychoeducation, experiential skills building and a safe place for processing as tools to move from distress and avoidance into a life lived more easily and consistently with individual desires and values. Group sessions will include time for review of prepared materials as well as time to process as a group whatever issues come up for individual members that day. The group will be co-facilitated by Paul and Emily, will meet every other week from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Atlanta Center for Wellness, and will last for 8-9 sessions at a cost of $75 per session. Pre-registration is required and the first session will be on December 7, 2017.

COST/FEE
$75 per session for 8-9 sessions. Payment is expected in advance of group and individuals purchasing the entire 8-9 sessions in advance will receive a $75 discount.

MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION

DESCRIPTION
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is an eight-week program developed by mindfulness pioneer Jon Kabat-Zinn 1979. Extensive research over the past 30 years has shown that MBSR is extremely helpful in improving quality of life. It is proven to alleviate many common mental and physical health problems:

  • stress and stress-related illnesses
  • depression and other mood disorders
  • anxiety and panic disorders
  • chronic pain
  • insomnia
  • coping with cancer
  • gastrointestinal issues
  • type-2 diabetes
  • attention deficit disorder
  • eating disorders
  • heart disease
  • addiction
  • autoimmune diseases
  • and others

This course can also help you improve concentration and attention, regulate your emotions, and enhance your relationships. You will learn how to focus on the present moment and be open to things just as they are. Over eight weeks, you will develop your ability to experience greater joy, compassion, and kindness.
No previous meditation experience is required, although willingness to practice daily meditation is a key component of realizing the benefits of the course.

NOURISH - A MONTHLY THERAPEUTIC MEAL SUPPORT GROUP FOCUSING ON MINDFUL, SELF-COMPASSIONATE & INTUITIVE EATING

DESCRIPTION
What is food to you?... comforting? threatening? frustrating? boring?

Discover mindful eating – the practice of being present with your food while processing the emotional response in the presence of a supportive community. Whether in recovery from an eating disorder, working through food traumas, or improving your physical well-being, this group can help to guide your food choices and challenge automatic judgments on foods. Hannah Sabella, a Registered Dietitian, will provide education and support on choosing foods for mood stabilization and improvement, physical well-being, and dietary exposure work using mindful and intentional eating practices, in addition to therapeutic processing led by Hannah Hawkins-Esther, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In this way, we can explore how our physical and emotional selves are nourished by food.

This monthly meal group is centered on young adult recovery and wellness, and will focus on therapeutic techniques to alleviate anxiety, depression, and shame surrounding food and eating. Group members must be willing to participate in a meal, with guidance from an RD and Psychotherapist on meal appropriateness.

$90 for this 90 minute group includes therapeutic support and dietary guidance through Mindful Eating. Each participant must bring a well balanced meal to the group.

This is a group for adolescents, ages 14 to 17 years old, who want a safe and supportive place to talk and learn coping skills with others who are going through similar experiences. We will role play scenarios that we can all relate to, as well as see how each of us plays a part in them. We will, also, learn how to meditate and find ways to calm and relax ourselves.

Divorce can be feel like you're traveling down a dark tunnel while juggling many balls in the air. It's usually very painful, frustrating, confusing and wrought with uncertainties. No matter where you are in the process, it's easy to feel like you're all alone. Support, information and connection are very important to find the courage to go forward, and enhance your ability to move through the divorce process and recover well.

Visions Anew divorce support can help those feelings of isolation and insanity melt as others share similar concerns, experiences and perspectives while you transition toward new opportunities and empowerment.
