RACHEL HOPKINS, MS, CRC, APC
Rachel Hopkins works with children, adolescents, teenagers, and young adults to take a comprehensive and integrated approach to therapy, looking at all of the pieces to help clients and families piece things together - together. With an all-inclusive background of experience in intensive outpatient programs, educational environments, and government/public service, Rachel’s passion lies in empowering clients to live a well-connected life during the first-quarter development stages. Through consistent, client-individualized care, Rachel believes therapy can become a comfortable, gratifying (and often entertaining!) journey to accentuate and accelerate the pursuit of purposeful goals.
To schedule a complementary, 10-minute phone consultation, please email Rachel at [email protected] or send a text message to (470) 666-2656.
SPECIALTY AREAS
ADHD and Neurodivergence
Using neurodivergent-adapted DBT Skills and DIR (Developmental, Individual-differences, & Relationship-based) Floortime Play, Rachel weaves executive function training and emotional regulation support to help with the most challenging behaviors and feelings that can coexist when navigating a world that isn’t always considerate of these unique challenges. From mitigating frustration and mood swings to developing effective communication with friends and family, Rachel supports clients in building resilience while embracing their unique qualities.
“Parentified” and Only Children
Being an only child can come with unique experiences and challenges. Many only children develop strong self-reliance, maturity, and independence at an early age, however, they often struggle with perfectionism and interpersonal relationships due to intense focus and high expectations, whether placed on them by others or self-imposed. Therapy from an experiential lens can help to build self-compassion, reduce anxiety, and foster a growth mindset.
Difficult Transitions, Career Counseling, “Failure to Launch”
Navigating the transition to adulthood can be challenging, especially for young adults who are struggling to “launch.” Rachel offers comprehensive support to help young adults gain independence, build confidence, and achieve their goals. Her blended approach includes career counseling, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and emotional support to address the underlying issues that may hinder progress. Through individual therapy, Rachel helps young adults to develop resilience, set achievable goals, and cultivate a positive mindset.
Grief and Loss
Experiencing the loss of a loved one can be an overwhelming and deeply personal journey. Rachel’s grief counseling services provide a safe and supportive space to process emotions and find healing. Grief comes in many forms, including ambiguous grief, where the loss is unclear or unresolved, and anticipatory grief, where the loss is expected but hasn't yet occurred. Therapy can help individuals find meaningful ways to honor and remember their loved ones (known as legacy building), foster a sense of connection, preserve positive memories, and construct a healthy path forward.
Ketamine Integration Coaching
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, or KAP, is a cutting-edge treatment offering hope for individuals struggling with feelings of being “stuck.” Rachel provides a structured and supportive environment for clients to get the most out of their Ketamine outside treatments by setting intentional goals and appropriately preparing before treatment, processing what happened during treatments, and harnessing the strength of mental flexibility and neuroplasticity that Ketamine can bring once treatment is complete.
Parent Psychoeducation and Support
Raising a child with ADHD and/or Autism can present unique challenges and uncertainties for parents. Understanding neurodivergence and learning effective strategies to support your child while supporting yourself can make a significant difference in their development and your family’s overall well-being. Utilizing strategic family therapy (SFT) and parent psychoeducation, Rachel provides you with the knowledge and tools to confidently and compassionately navigate these challenges, while strengthening your child's interdisciplinary support and advocacy team.
